Finnish developers, Team OCMO, have announced that their debut iOS mobile game OCMO will arrive on November 16th. It has been out in its native country, Finland, since September but now the developers are ready to release it to pretty much the rest of the World. Those in Asia will have to wait a little while longer while some localization work is done. Check out the launch trailer:
But what is OCMO? Well, it is a physics-based game with a lot of “rope” mechanics. Basically, you play at the titular character who is a multi-armed organism that can attach itself to most surfaces and, using momentum, can traverse any puzzle it comes up against. The game consists of 80 fast-paced levels that have been made to purposefully be quite difficult, but always fair. It won’t be a “walk in the park” and you are going to have to invest a lot of time learning how Ocmo moves and how inertia plays a role in the game.
Setting itself apart from other game in the mobile market, OCMO comes with absolutely no in-game purchases. It is a premium priced game but, then, what you see is what you get and you can get into playing the game properly without having to stop to purchase in-game items or wait for timers.
Even though the game and developers are relative newcomers to the scene, they have already won a number of awards such as Game of the Year at the Nordic Game Discovery Contest and was the winner in the pocket game category at this year’s Very Big Indie Pitch in Helsinki.
